hCards in the Footer Posted on June 14th, 2007 by

As part of our ongoing quest to incorporate useful microformats throughout the Gustavus website, we have added an hCard to the footer of every page within the Gustavus template.

What does this mean? Now, visitors who use hCard aware technologies, such as the Operator extension for Firefox, will be able to add contact information for the College to their address books with a couple of simple clicks. Additionally, smart, semantically-aware search engines will be able to retrieve and index our contact information and geographical location. Not only that, but future versions of browsers (such as the upcoming Firefox 3) will be able to further leverage the power of microformats in new and exciting ways.

We hope that this small change will not only make using the Gustavus website even more convenient for web savvy visitors, but will also make finding information about Gustavus even easier.
