Cool new “Give feedback” and “Send this page” forms Posted on May 4th, 2006 by

Thanks to all of the hard work of Jeremy Carlson and the wonderful moo.fx, we recently upgraded the “Give feedback” and “Send this page” forms (linked at the tops of every page) from popups to be nicer in-page forms.

No More Popups

We have never liked popups and are glad to be rid of them. These forms are now generated and sent using AJAX without requiring the user to endure a popup.

Mimicking Real Life

Additionally, there is a nice animation effect that brings these forms in. Animation, if used properly, can substantially improve the usability of a website.

This is a big upgrade because it mimics real life and is therefore easier to understand. For example, if you were walking down the street and a person suddenly appeard right in front of you, you would probably be a little shocked. Instead, people come out of doors or from behind buildings and slowly get closer.

This is the way things are supposed to happen. Things on computers should work the same way.
