I am about to switch to a new machine and am working on consolidating all of my data that I need to move. So I got to thinking that it would be nice to have a list of all the Firefox extensions that I use to help me with the switch. Then I was thinking that it might be a good reference for other people. So here it is, my list of Firefox extensions:
- Adblock – filters ads from web-pages
- Tabbrowser Preferences – enhances control over some aspects of tabbed browsing
- Mouse Gestures – allows you to execute common commands using mouse gestures
- Web Developer – adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools
- Foxylicious – integrates your del.icio.us bookmarks into your Firefox bookmarks
- SmoothWheel – scrolls the document smoothly when scrolling the mouse wheel
- miniT – adds a few tab related functions
- Greasemonkey – a user script manager
- Feed Your Reader – lets external applications and web based aggregators use RSS auto-discovery
Don’t forget these:
Media Player Connectivity – Sometimes works… identifies media links in embedded flash media so you can view it another program or save it
G-Mail Notifier – Notifies you when you have new g-mail
For my Gmail, I just use the Gmail notifier that Google offers. Although it is a separate program, you don’t need to be running Firefox to have it notify you. Does the extension offer any advantages other than not being a separate program and cross-platform?
No.
View Rendered Source – This is pretty sweet. It’s basically just a souped up version of Firefox’s view source. It seems like it’d be easier to spot div problems this way.
